At a ceremony held in the amphitheatre following the May Day Parade, Woodside School’s PTA recognized Heather Green as “Citizen of the Year” for all her volunteer efforts.

Mrs. Green lives in Woodside and has two children at the school. For the past eight years she has run the recycling program on campus, collecting, sorting and cashing in bottles and cans to raise money for the music department.

She has helped in classrooms, and supported the choir by sewing and cleaning its robes, and chaperoning field trips.

Serving on the Woodside School Foundation board for several years, she is currently the secretary. Foundation president Sheree Shoch praised Ms. Green “for always doing behind-the-scenes work; she’s an unsung hero.”

The PTA presented Ms. Green with a rose tree, symbolic of her ecological volunteerism at the school.
