The Menlo College baseball team split a doubleheader with host Corban in a Cascade Conference affair Saturday.

The Oaks dropped the first game, 4-3, and then came back to win, 6-5, in the nightcap.

Menlo (13-11, 18-21) has won 11 of its past 14 games to climb back into contention in the conference.

Menlo is in a virtual tie, with British Columbia, for third place, two games behind second-place College of Idaho.

The Oaks and Coyotes meet in Caldwell, Idaho in a four-game series to end the regular season.

The Oaks are at San Francisco State for a 2:30 p.m. nonconference tilt Tuesday in a make-up of a rained out contest.

Will Pierce hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to complete the come-from-behind win in the second game. The Oaks erased a 5-1 deficit.

Softball

Menlo heads to Simpson for a make-up game Monday still looking for its first Cal Pac Conference victory.

The Oaks (0-5, 8-22) lost their eighth straight after falling to visiting Holy Names, 10-2 and 6-2, in a doubleheader Saturday.

Emmeline Wang hit a home run for the Oaks in the opener and recorded two hits in the second game. Stephanie Gilbert also had two hits.
