A third-party contractor working in the backyard of a Menlo Park home struck a gas line this morning, according to a PG&E spokesman.
The contractor hit a half-inch plastic service pipe that provides gas to a home in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue at about 9 a.m., PG&E spokesman Jason King said.
As of 9:25 a.m., crews were at the scene and working to stop the flow of gas, King said. The line was expected to be shut off around 9:50 a.m., he said.
The leak was only affecting the single home and no injuries were reported.
King said the area has been secured and is safe.
