If he were old enough, Shiva Bucklin could have driven the Palo Alto National all-star team bus. He did just about everything else Sunday.

Bucklin drove in five runs on a double and home run and threw three scoreless innings in Palo Alto National’s 11-0 victory over Ravenswood in a first round game of the District 52 Little League 12-year-old all-star tournament at the Belmont Sports Complex.

Palo Alto National comes back Monday to face Hillsborough at 7:30 p.m. in Belmont.

Ravenswood plays again on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Redwood City West.

It was a 3-0 ballgame until Palo Alto struck for seven runs in the third inning, which included Bucklin’s home run.

Bucklin and Joshua Kasevich combined on a two-hitter, with nine strikeouts. Bucklin was the winning pitcher.

Kasevich also doubled and hit a home run for Palo Alto.

Maxfield Fung-Goldberg added an RBI double while Will Roth, Alemayo Kassa and Jason Shorin also collected hits.

For Ravenswood, Lei Aholeilei and Lauese collected hits.

Alpine-West Menlo

In a winner’s bracket game, Alpine West Menlo ran into a hot pitcher, falling to Redwood City East, 8-1.

Alpine plays again on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The opponent is the winner of Wednesday’s Ravenswood-Redwood City West contest.

Scott Nelson broke up Redwood City East’s no-hit bid with a sharp single with two outs in the top of the sixth.

Cole Gabrielson scored Alpine’s only run in the top of the first. He walked and eventually came home on a wild pitch.

The tournament runs through July 10, with a possible challenge game on July 11. All games are played at the Belmont Sports Complex.
