An armed man got away with an unknown amount of cash and a carton of cigarettes in a robbery of the 7-Eleven at the corner of Oak Grove Avenue and Alma Street in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Police are looking for a Tongan man 20 to 30 years old, between 6-foot-2-inches and 6-foot-4-inches tall, and with a large build, Menlo Park Police Department spokeswoman Nicole Acker said. When last seen, he was wearing a black jacket.
The man entered the store around 12:40 a.m., showed the clerk a black-colored handgun lodged in his waistband and demanded cash and cigarettes, police said. The clerk complied, giving the man a carton of cigarettes and an unknown amount of cash. The robber then fled on foot south along Alma Lane.
He might have gotten into an older black pickup truck with a camper shell on top, police said.
No one was injured and there are no leads yet. The store has a surveillance camera, but police have not yet examined its contents, Ms. Acker said.
