The North Fair Oaks Community Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, on Middlefield Road in Redwood City, between 1st and 5th avenues. View map.
Every year the North Fair Oaks Community Festival welcomes the community to a day of free live entertainment, arts and crafts, food and beverages, children’s rides and activities, and a festive parade.
Nereyda Guzman of Redwood City has been crowned as the 2013 Queen of the North Fair Oaks Community Festival and has won a $10,000 scholarship.
Festival proceeds benefit the youth programs of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and provide scholarships through the Queen of the Festival scholarship program. Youth programs keep youth safe and occupied during the critical, after-school hours and during the most vulnerable years of their school careers, the organizers say.

Someone explain why no alcohol is served nor can be consumed at this event, but Menlo Park’s Connoisseurs’ Market Place (2 miles away)allows beer/wine? It is usually a warm day and a cool beverage would enhance the atmosphere and raise revenue as well. Is there fear (profilng) that the indigenous personnel would act irresponsibly?
