At least six people were displaced following a structure fire in a single-story duplex in the North Fair Oaks area Wednesday afternoon, according to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.

Firefighters were called to 446 Third Ave. shortly before 4 p.m. on a report of smoke coming from a building, officials said.

Upon arrival they saw smoke coming from a single-story duplex, and found the front living room in one of the units engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire and damage to one unit, but because of smoke damage and damage to the utilities and common attic area, no occupants can return until repairs are made, officials said.

At least six adults were displaced. Damage was estimated at around $150,000.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
