Eric Hartwig, hired as interim superintendent of the Portola Valley School District when Superintendent Lisa Gonzales abruptly left the district in October 2015, has agreed to stay at the district for at least two more years, through June 2019.
The word “interim” is no longer part of his title.
The proposed contract for Mr. Hartwig, which is scheduled to be considered by the school board on Wednesday, Jan. 18, would increase his base salary to $225,000 a year, up from his current $210,000.
Mr. Hartwig began his career as an English teacher in middle and high school before becoming assistant principal at Capuchino High School, and then principal at Menlo-Atherton, a job he held for nine years. He served as superintendent of the Las Lomitas Elementary School District for five years before retiring in 2012.
