Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 29-year-old transient from San Jose on Sunday night at the Woodside Park and Ride lot at Highway 280 after discovering warrants out for his arrest and finding him in possession of a gun and methamphetamine.

At 9:29 p.m. Sunday, deputies passing the Park and Ride saw a man changing a tire on a vehicle that was damaged in the front, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

Deputies checked the man’s record and saw the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office had issued two warrants for his arrest. Deputies then found he had a gun concealed in his waistband, methamphetamine in his pocket, and that he showed signs of being under the influence of drugs, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County jail on charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, concealing a firearm, being under the influence of drugs, possessing a controlled substance and a prior weapons charge.
