Three major trails in Wunderlich County Park in Woodside are closed until Nov. 29 to allow the San Mateo County Parks Department and PG&E to do a trail reconstruction project, according to a parks department release.

The Meadow, Oak and Loop trails are closed until the end of the month, while a fourth trail, the Alambique, is closed on weekdays.

The trails work is a follow-up to a project to restore 16 acres of native oak woodland habitat and reduce wildfire fuels in the park that began in September, according to the release.

Removal of invasive eucalyptus and acacia trees that were introduced to the park in the early 1900s, and that have been progressively crowding out native plants, began in late August.

As part of the project, crews will construct a fire road between the Alambique and Loop trails that will improve firefighters’ accessibility to the park and serve as an emergency exit in the event of a wildfire.
