Maddie N. Zdeblick has been named Portola Valley Theater Conservatory’s incoming executive director, according to a press release.
Zdeblick, a Bay Area native, has worked with the Portola Valley Theater Conservatory for the last 10 summers as a teaching artist, director, IDEA (inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility) consultant, and scholar in residence.
Zdeblick will be taking this position after having just completed her Ph.D. in education at the University of Washington Seattle.
Zdeblick is passionate about educational equity, disability justice, and innovating new theatrical forms in partnership with learners of all ages and abilities, according to the release.
She plans to continue Portola Valley Theater Conservatory programs like after-school classes, camps, and outreach in local schools, and developing further programs around inclusion, community partnerships, and restart community MainStage shows. The shows have been on pause since the COVID-19 lockdown.
She will officially take over on Sept. 1, for the fall semester. In the meantime, she will use the summer to plan for the upcoming semester alongside the current Executive Director Noëlle GM Gibbs.
