Students buy basketball coach a car

Last week, Menlo-Atherton High School and Hillview Middle School students held a fundraiser and car wash to raise money for their basketball coach Jhavante Hill, who lost his car weeks before. Since his car broke down, Hill had relied on public transportation, rideshares and carpooling to get to games and practices. Over the course of a week, students were able to raise about $25,000, enough to buy their coach a 2024 Nissan with a car maintenance package and gas card.

Survey opens for Samtrans’ Dumbarton project
Samtrans is reimagining the Dumbarton freight railroad line to provide zero-emission bus service and improvements for communities in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Atherton and North Fair Oaks. A community survey has been released for members of the public to describe their current travel habits, transportation challenges and barriers experienced along this area and travel priorities.
The long-unused Dumbarton freight corridor is currently in poor condition but once played an important role in connecting cities across the southern San Francisco Bay.
To access the survey in English, Spanish and Chinese visit tinyurl.com/ReimagineDumbarton. For more information on the project visit samtrans.com/Dumbarton.
