Old Woodside Store Day
The San Mateo County Historical Association is hosting its annual Old Woodside Store Day on May 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the historic site at 3300 Tripp Road in Woodside. The free family event will highlight what life was like in the area during the 1880s and feature activities focused on the history of the Woodside Store and redwood logging in the area.
The Woodside Store was established in 1864 by Mathias Parkhurst and Dr. Robert Tripp. The site served as a general store, stagecoach stop, dentist office, post office and community gathering spot.
Families can enjoy demonstrations of how to use a two-person saw, split shingles with a mallet and froe, churn butter and wash clothes the old-fashioned way while live performances from fiddle and guitar players bring the past to life.
