North Fair Oaks Community Council members will consider a proposal Thursday, Feb. 25, that would allow a private K–8 school to open a second campus inside the SportsHouse recreation complex on Edison Way.

The agenda item calls for consideration of a Use Amendment to permit a new private primary school at 3151 Edison Way. The application combines renewal of SportsHouse’s existing permit with an amendment allowing Synapse School to establish Campus No. 2 inside the building.

According to county planning documents, the proposal would convert 9,260 square feet of existing space into classrooms and support areas for up to 140 students and 15 staff members.

County staff state the project meets zoning and parking requirements and would include traffic monitoring and other operational conditions. Some nearby residents, however, have raised concerns about existing congestion and spillover parking around the site.

The council will make a recommendation to the county’s Zoning Hearing Officer, who will make the final decision.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Community Center, with remote participation available via Zoom.
