Sheila Conners, 89, of Woodside, who was an avid gardener and exercise aficionado, who loved animals and encouraged her children to explore the outdoors, who advocated for the establishment of the Woodside Town Center Sewer Assessment District, and who worked as a teacher’s aide at Woodside Elementary School, died on Oct. 3, 2025.
Michael Miller Matthews, 85, of Atherton, who worked in finance at Chevron Asphalt Company before launching his career in wealth management at PaineWebber, who served as president of the Palo Alto Lions Club and the Peninsula Stock and Bond Club, and who loved golf and was always up for a game of bridge, died on Nov. 3, 2025.
Perry H. Vartanian, 94, of Woodside, who was born in Rochester, N.Y., who earned a master’s degree and a doctorate from Stanford University, where he specialized in microwave engineering, who helped develop a device to transform a black-and-white television to color; who later worked in engineering and manufacturing, including Sylvania, Melabs, SCM, Ampex and Vartron, and who served on the Woodside Town Council, including one term as mayor, died on Sept. 26, 2025.
Marcia Reed Wythes, 89, of Atherton, who was born in Shanghai, China, who lived in Hawaii, San Francisco, Palo Alto and Menlo Park before settling in Atherton; and who was an avid volunteer who served on boards at the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula and the University of Washington Foundation, died on Nov. 10, 2025.
