Chloe Delehanty, a freshman this fall at Menlo-Atherton High School, organized and ran a charity horse show at Webb Ranch on June 29 to benefit Front Range Equine Rescue, a nonprofit organization that works to stop abuse and neglect of horses.

The horse show raised $933 in entry fees and donations, all of which went to the rescue group, Chloe says. “Not only did we raise money, but we also got people aware of [FRER],” she said.

Chloe, 14, who often rides at Webb Ranch, located at 2720 Alpine Road, persuaded the ranch to donate use of its facilities for the charity show. She received donations from individuals to cover almost all of the costs of the show.

Prizes, such as ribbons and helmet decorations, were donated by Blue Saddlery and flower bouquets were given by Bianchini’s Market in Ladera. Gail Morey, a horse trainer, volunteered to judge the show at no cost.

Chloe said she has worked with the horse rescue group for many years, saving her own money to donate to it.

“I was heartened to see how people collectively worked to do something to help a cause,” said Chloe’s mother, Alexis Delehanty.

Chloe said she plans to put on the charity horse show again next year, and hopes to increase the number of participants.
