San Francisco native and Lowell grad Robin Hart was announced as Menlo College women’s soccer coach on Thursday. She spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Cal State Sonoma, where she helped the team to a CCAA regular season championship in 2015 and a runner-up finish in 2016.
“We’re very excited to have Robin as our next women’s soccer coach,” Menlo Director of Athletics Keith Spataro said. “Her proven track record as both a coach and a student-athlete combined with her work ethic and personality make me very confident in the future of our program.”
In addition to her duties at Sonoma State, Hart served as head coach of the Santa Rosa United Soccer Club and as an assistant coach for the Region IV Olympic Development Program.
Prior to that, Hart was an assistant coach at her Alma Mater, San Francisco State University, for three seasons and also served as the head coach of the East Bay United Soccer Club for six seasons.
“I would like to thank Steven Weiner (Executive V.P.) and Keith Spataro for this special opportunity to lead the women’s soccer program,” Hart said. “From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt welcomed and a part of the family. I’m honored and grateful to represent Menlo College and the women’s soccer program.”
In addition to having an extensive coaching background, Hart enjoyed a tremendous collegiate playing career, playing two seasons for the Gators in 2007-08, earning All-CCAA second team honors and All-CCAA first team accolades, respectively. She spent her first two years at Cal State Bakersfield.
As a senior and team captain at SFSU, Hart led the team in goals (9) and points (20), propelling the Gators to a 12-7-3 record and appearances in the CCAA Championship and NCAA Division II championship tournaments.
She was honored as a NSCAA All-West Region first team selection and was voted the Gators’ Most Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year.
Not only was she a standout on the pitch, but she excelled in the classroom as well, receiving ESPN the Magazine/Academic All-District VIII College Soccer Division First Team Award honors that season.
In the spring in 2009, Hart graduated from San Francisco State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University–Irvine.
Hart possesses a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National C License.
