Tommy Eisenstat and Matt MacLeod each drove in three runs and Menlo-Atherton defeated host Woodside 12-1 in Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division baseball action Saturday.

The Wildcats scored first before M-A took the lead on one swing of the bat in the top of the third. After Max Coupe walked, Eisenstat hit a home run to right field. Griffin Williams drew a walk and Matt MacLeod followed with a home run to center field.

MacLeod singled home another run and Colin Galles doubled home two runs during a six-run rally in the fourth.

James Roberts and winning pitcher Rowen Barnes also drove in runs.

Barnes struck out seven in his five innings, allowing a run on five hits. He walked one. Eisenstat and Ethan Bergan each pitched an inning in relief.

Gunn outfielder Quinton Sterling singled home the tying run in the top of the sixth, but host Milpitas scored in the bottom of the sixth and the Titans dropped a 4-3 decision to the Trojans Saturday.

Sterling, Carson Leclerc and Charlie Deggelller each had two hits for Gunn (8-7, 7-6), which plays at Monta Vista in Cupertino on Tuesday afternoon.

Leclerc started the game and gave up three runs, two earned, in four innings. He struck out one and walked one.

Top-seeded Menlo and seventh-seeded Sacred Heart Prep both advanced in the CCS Division I playoffs with wins in the first round.

Menlo (11-0-1) downed visiting Santa Cruz 5-1 as Stella El-Fishaway scored twice and recorded an assist.

Gabby Kogler scored a goal and had an assist for the Knights, who play Branham in the semifinals. Branham advanced with a 1-0 win over Aptos.

“It was an overwhelming performance as a team. Fluid passing allowed a series of offensive opportunities,” Menlo coach Ross Ireland said. “We had a comfortable win because of slick ball movement , disciplined defending and clinical finishing.”

Francesca Prescott and Dorothy Zhang also scored for Menlo.

Hannah Gorospe, Claire Pickering, and Ashley Grady each recorded an assist.

Senior defender Julia Deffner was an anchor on defense with sophomore goalie Sam Sellers.

Sacred Heart Prep (8-3) edged No. 2 Aragon 4-3 at San Mateo. Lilly Lynch scored the go-ahead goal off a corner kick in the 75th minute.

Megan Tinsley scored on a penalty kick and Sydney Adas scored on an assist from Molly Tinsley.

The Gators play Soquel in Wednesday’s semifinal.

Menlo-Atherton downed host Saratoga 3-0 in Division II and will play Sequoia in the semifinals.

In Division III, Castilleja suffered a 7-6 setback to San Benito in penalty kicks. The game finished 1-1.

Gunn found itself in overtime with Mountain View for the second time this season. And for the second time, the Titans won in overtime.

Senior Chloe Li scored the winning goal in Gunn’s 10-9 win over the Spartans. Irene Kim scored twice in the final 2:34 to tie the match.

Gunn goalie Brindha Jaeger stopped a shot with two seconds remaining in regulation.

Kim finished with three goals and Li had two goals. Shreeya Sethuraman had two goals and an assist, and Sophia Stern, Stella Manning, and Kate Williams each added a goal.

Kim and Tess Flinchbaugh led the team with seven and five draw controls, respectively. Kate Williams led with four ground balls and Jaeger ended with 12 saves.

The Titans host Saratoga on Monday night in their regular season finale. The team will honor their six seniors: Lotem Efrat, Tess Flinchbaugh, Brindha Jaeger, Chloe Li, Shreeya Sethuraman and Kate Williams.

Girls basketball

Annika Shah scored 20 points, one of three players to reach double figures in scoring and Palo Alto beat visiting Milpitas 71-25 in a non-league game Saturday.

Carly Martin added 17 points and Kaella Peters had 11. Shah and Peters combined to hit seven of the team’s 12 3-pointers.

Ilayda Turgut and Jessica Fiske each grabbed seven rebounds, while Martin had six rebounds. Fiske also had a team-high four assists.

Palo Alto is a game behind Lynbrook in the standings with three games to play, which includes Lynbrook. The Vikings (10-5) host Los Gatos on Tuesday night.

Palo Alto beat visiting Los Altos 48-40 in a SCVAL De Anza Division contest Saturday.

The Vikings (7-7, 5-4) have won five of their past seven games and will try to extend that streak at Santa Clara on Monday night.

Boys volleyball

Zach Chang recorded 11 kills and his brother Tenzin Chang added 9 kills as Gunn beat host Wilcox in four sets.

Sebastain Caldera recorded 18 assists and Jack Poon had 6 assists.

Kenza Ashworth scored five goals in helping Gunn beat host Palo Alto 8-4 in a SCVAL De Anza Division contest Saturday.

Nina Albers added a goal, an assist, and four steals, while senior Molly Wilkinson had a goal, 2 assists 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Goalie Jayden Kratt made 11 saves.

Castilleja topped host Los Altos 12-5 on Saturday. Anjali Kambham led the way with four goals. Sydney Lowell added three.

The Gators (12-1, 11-1) host third-place Los Gatos on Tuesday afternoon and there’s a lot riding on that game.

Castilleja and Gunn are currently tied for first place in the SCVAL De Anza Division and Los Gatos has three losses, all by one goal, to the co-leaders.

Gunn hosts Homestead and Palo Alto travels to Harker in other games Tuesday.

The SCVAL season ends Thursday, with Castilleja hosting Mountain View, Palo Alto hosting Los Gatos and Gunn traveling to Los Altos.

Wrestling

The Titans continued their unbeaten season with a 60-12 victory over Santa Clara, in Gunn’s last away dual meet, on Saturday.

Jack Oralevich and Carter Jaquette earned early pins, and Daniel Shevat won by injury default.
