James Lambert ran for three touchdowns, including a 57-yard romp, and the Gunn football team opened its home schedule with a 56-28 victory over Sequoia in a nonleague game Friday night.

Kevin Green also scored for the Titans (1-1), who host Andrew Hill at 7 p.m. Friday.

Jaymason Howard came up big for Sequoia, scoring three touchdowns on runs of 52, 17 and five yards. He also returned a fumble 55 yards.

Jack Kern returned a kickoff 89 yards for another Sequoia score. The Ravens (0-2) host Capuchino at 7 p.m. Friday.

Woodside earned a 22-14 nonleague victory over visiting Rancho San Juan. The Wildcats (1-1) host Aragon at 7 p.m. Friday.

Viliani Teu scored three touchdowns for St. Francis in a 55-0 victory over host Oak Grove. Kamau Julien scored twice for the Lancers (1-0), who had last week’s game at Central Catholic canceled due to air quality last week.

Peyton Warford’s interception set up a Camilo Arquette five-yard run for a score. Troy Bembo also ran for a score.

Matthew Dougherty and Tim Netane hooked up on an 11-yard scoring play.

St. Francis hosts De La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. De La Salle has won its first two games 52-16 and 69-6.

Pinewood opened its football season with a 56-34 victory over Layton.

Girls volleyball

Los Altos dropped a 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 nonleague decision to visiting Mitty, the Central Coast Section’s top-ranked team and unbeaten in eight matches.

The Eagles (4-4) travel to Westmont for a nonleague match at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Menlo-Atherton beat visiting Castro Valley 26-24, 25-6, 25-21 in another nonleague match Friday. The Bears (4-5) host Mitty at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Eastside Prep fell to host University Prep 25-7, 25-6, 25-12 in San Jose on Friday. The Panthers (0-2) travel to Redwood Christian for a match at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
