Sacred Heart Prep rushed for nearly 200 yards as a team and Andrew Latu scored a touchdown in the Gators’ 13-7 loss to host St. Ignatius in a nonleague football game Saturday.

The Gators (1-1) had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead midway through the fourth quarter. The drive stalled and the Wildcats (2-0) were able to run out the clock.
The Wildcats opened a 10-0 advantage early in the second quarter. SHP responded with a 21-play, 87-yard scoring drive that consumed 10 minutes.
The longest plays on the drive were Latu’s 12-yard run and quarterback Jack Herrell’s 13-yard scamper. Latu scored on a fourth-down play.
Latu rushed for 57 yards and Zach Freire ran for 56 yards, 45 on a double reverse. Luis Mendoza and Herrell gained another 57 yards. Herrell threw for 43 yards, completing six of 12 passes.
Luke Renert and Jack Halloran each recorded a sack for SHP, which has a bye this week and then travels to Mountain View for a contest on Sept. 17.
