Menlo found itself in an unfamiliar position early in Saturday’s game with Terra Nova.

Menlo trailed for the first time this season when Terra Nova scored in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead.
Not to worry. Menlo’s defense held the visitors scoreless the rest of the way and the Knights rallied for a 15-6 victory.
Robby Enright and Ty Richardson scored touchdowns as Menlo improved to 4-0.
Enright came up with an interception in the fourth quarter to blunt a Terra Nova comeback attempt, and Menlo turned to the ground game to run out the clock with Sergio Beltran and Jack Giesler alternating carries.
But after averaging 56 points per outing in its first three games, this was an occasion for the Menlo defense to lead the way.
“We were able to stop the run on first and second down and make them one-dimensional,” Menlo coach Todd Smith said. “And we were able to run the ball late against a (PAL) Bay team. A great win for our community and our team. Terra Nova came to play. They had a good game plan. Tough kids. This was really a big learning game for us, an opportunity to look in the mirror and get better.”
