Miraya Rehman and Devin Nuckles played key roles in Castilleja’s 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 victory over host The King’s Academy in a West Bay Athletic League Skyline Division match on Tuesday.

In addition to five kills, two blocks and five digs, Rehman served seven straight points to help the Gators get out to a 7-1 advantage in the third set. She also teamed up with Jordan Amos-Gosser for a block that ended the match.

Nuckles kept the ball alive several times from her libero position during key moments of the match.

The Kings Academy had an early lead in the first set and it was tied at 11-11 when Nuckles saved a ball just off the ground that sparked a three-point rally.

Serving was a major reason Castilleja (14-4, 3-0) controlled the match, as the Knights were on their heels trying to receive the ball. Claire Sun opened the first two sets with nice runs and finished with three aces.

Amos-Glosser finished with eight kills and 12 digs while Sun added another eight kills, seven digs and 11 assists.

Evielina Pasmooij added four kills, 11 assists and five blocks. She also recorded an ace to put Castilleja at set point in the second set and then served the final point.

Castilleja hosts Notre Dame Belmont (12-5) in a non league contest at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Tigers play in the WBAL Foothill Division.

Menlo School (19-5, 4-0) downed host Notre Dame Belmont 25-12, 25-15, 25-15 in a WBAL Foothill Division game Tuesday.

Sacred Heart Prep (14-1, 4-0) also won, beating visiting Notre Dame San Jose 25-17, 25-21, 25-14.

That’s sets up the first league showdown Thursday, when SHP travels to play at Menlo at 6:30 p.m.

Against NDB, Menlo senior Hanna Hoffman recorded nine kills, 15 assists and nine digs and senior Zoe Gregory added 20 assists.

Sophomore Cleo Hardin had eight kills and seniors Sharon Nejad and Simone Adam combined for 13. Senior Alli McKenney contributed 15 digs and junior Brooke Dombkowski added nine digs and four of the team’s 10 aces.

Against NDSJ, Ellie Wheeler recorded 23 digs while Mia Radeff added 13 digs and Isabelle Marco had eight.

Radeff was one of three Gators to get 10 or more kills. She had while Kellyn Zim led the team with 12. Millie Muir recorded 11 kills to go with 22 assists. Marco also had 22 assists and nine kills.

SCVAL De Anza Division

Junior Millie Kopp stepped up big time in the fifth set to help host Mountain View down Gunn 25-18, 25-18, 15-25, 17-25, 15-7 Tuesday.

Kopp recorded three kills in the final set and her best play may have been a dig that that led to a point and a 5-2 edge for the Spartans (17-2, 5-1), who are in second place behind Los Gatos, a 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 winner over Palo Alto on Tuesday.

Sophomore Lyric Manson got Mountain View going in the final set with a punishing kill. Tessa Hunter recorded a kill and teamed with Manson on a block. That was followed by a Fiona Huang block ahead of Kopp’s big defensive play and the Spartans took charge.

Other big plays came from Cambria Cook and Andisheh Turner.

Celine Safa and Heidi Purinama kept Gunn alive at times.

Sutchie Ofori-Nyako recorded 12 saves and Gabby Lewis had five steals as Castilleja put the clamps on Mountain View on Tuesday, beating the Spartans 15-2 in the SCVAL De Anza Division.

The Gators (8-4, 7-0) finished the first half of the season a game up on Los Gatos, which downed Palo Alto (8-9, 2-5) 11-1 on Tuesday.

Sydney Lowell led Castilleja with six goals. Lewis and Serafina Cortez each added three goals and Talula Seale recorded a goal and three assists.

Gunn remained a game behind Los Gatos, beating visiting Los Altos 16-6 on Tuesday. Goalie Jayden Kratt recorded 12 saves and led the team with four assists.

Kenza Ashworth netted eight goals and Nina Albers added five for the Titans.

Boys water polo

Jordan Affeld scored four times and Cole Vale added two goals in the fourth period as Gunn rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat Los Altos, 12-8.

Girls tennis

Menlo beat host Sacred Heart Prep 5-2 in a WBAL match Tuesday, Andra Braicu, Brynn Brady and Sofia Labatt each won their singles matches.

Berkeley Bernstein won at No. 4 singles for SHP.

In the SCVAL, Gunn downed Lynbrook 5-2, getting singles wins from Aoi Kumimoto and Kailana Baker-Matsuoka.

Girls golf

Katie Spivakovsky earned medalist honors, shooting a 43, and Menlo-Atherton beat Aragon 270-301.
