Jalen Williams scored 16 points and Malone Lohmann hit a pair of 3-pointers in helping Menlo-Atherton boys basketball team beat San Mateo 64-23 on Wednesday night.
Ryan Anderson added 10 points for the Bears (14-6, 7-2), who remain in second place, just behind Carlmont, in the Peninsula Athletic League South Division.
Declan Gibbons scored 13 points and Trevor Sato added 10 but Sequoia fell to Aragon 58-44. Capuchino beat Woodside 64-58 in another PAL game.
Girls basketball
Valentina Saric scored 20 points and Carmela Fontes added 15 as Priory beat Notre Dame Belmont in a West Bay Athletic League contest.
Priory (6-8, 2-3) hosts the Tigers (8-6, 3-4) on Friday.
Elsewhere, Ella Ladine scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Pinewood beat Crystal Springs Uplands 67-20.
Jade Ramirez added 10 points and seven rebounds and Skylar Chui grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots.
Santa Clara Valley Athletic League
Palo Alto remained atop the De Anza Division standings following a 69-16 victory over Wilcox on Wednesday night.
Natalie Holm scored 15 points and Los Altos beat Riordan 50-48 in overtime. The Eagles outscored Riordan 8-3 over the final 90 seconds of regulation to force the overtime. Tara Davari hit a key 3-pointer that tied the game. Maggie Byrne added 12 points.
In the El Camino Division, Vallory Kuelker scored 29 points but Gunn fell to Milpitas 56-41 and division leader Monta Vista beat Mountain View 60-39.
Peninsula Athletic League
Fiona Steinmetz scored 15 points, Tess Statkiewicz had 13 and Menlo-Atherton beat San Mateo 66-35 in a South Division game Wednesday.
Capuchino beat Woodside 68-36 in another contest.
