The Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame is set to welcome six new members during a ceremony on June 27.

The event will occur at the San Mateo County History Museum at 2200 Broadway. Festivities will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main program at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s inductees include Brent Brennan, a notable figure in local football circles who has revitalized the San Jose State University football program before taking up the head coach position at the University of Arizona. Joining him is Ben Burr-Kirven, a former linebacker at the University of Washington and NFL player for the Seattle Seahawks.

Basketball is represented by Franki Ferrari, a Burlingame High School graduate who played point guard at the University of San Francisco and went on to a professional career in Europe. The sports journalism field is honored with Sam Goldman, who has educated many future journalists at Crestmoor High School and Skyline College and served as a sports information director across several institutions.

The honorees also include Lindsay James DeAlba, a former softball standout at Sequoia High School and the University of California at Berkeley, and Terilyn Moe, a record-setting basketball player from Terra Nova High School who went on to excel at the University of Nevada-Reno.

John Horgan, a long-time chronicler of sports in the Peninsula, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Horgan has been instrumental in organizing the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame program since 1989 and has covered local sports and more for over six decades. His recent book, Cradle of Champions: A Selected History of San Mateo County Sports, will be available for purchase at the event.

The evening celebrates these local sports legends and supports the ongoing work of the San Mateo County Historical Association. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 for museum members and $35 for non-members. Special offers include a complimentary museum membership for non-members buying two or more tickets.
