The Alpine Little League All-Stars’ run for the West Region Championship came to an end Wednesday, Aug. 6, after the team lost 11-0 against Fullerton’s Golden Hill Little League in an elimination game.

While the team may have lost, the Alpine Little League has made local history as it was the first time it has advanced this far in the postseason, a run that captured the hearts of local Little League baseball fans.

Golden Hill, however, will play against Hawaii’s Honolulu Little League on Thursday, Aug. 7, for a chance to compete in the World Series.

During a close game against Hawaii on Aug. 4, the Alpine Little League lost 4-3. The most recent game was the team’s last chance at winning a spot for the title of West Region Champions.

Although the boys faced a loss on Wednesday night, the team will return home to a supportive community that has been rooting for them since the start. For every Alpine Little League game, fans back at home were cheering them on at Menlo Park’s Dutch Goose sports bar.

This year marked the Alpine Little League’s first time in 24 years to win the title of District 52 champions and the California State Championship in Petaluma.
