A big rig overturned Sunday morning on northbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of Redwood City, after a collision that left the two drivers involved with minor injuries.

Two lanes remained closed as of about 12:15 p.m.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the wreck near Marsh Road at about 10:50 a.m. and found the big rig on its side on the righthand shoulder.

The 18-wheeler with its trailer attached was involved in a collision with a sedan and both drivers were hospitalized with injuries described as minor, according to CHP Officer Sophie Lu.

There was no preliminary information on what caused the collision.

Three northbound lanes were closed following the collision, with one of those reopening in the hour afterward, leaving two closed as of midday. There was no estimate for when the lanes would be clear at that time, Lu said.

Drivers were asked to take El Camino Real or state Highway 84 to Haven Road to East Bayshore Road as an alternative.
