Redwood City police said Monday morning that there is currently no evidence a child was involved in a rollover crash on northbound Highway 101 north of Woodside Road and no ongoing concern about a missing child.

Redwood City officers assisted the California Highway Patrol with an extensive overnight search after receiving a report that a young child may have been involved in the crash, according to a 7:43 a.m. police update. No child matching the reported description was found, police said.

Police issued conflicting alerts overnight, initially describing the child as a 4-year-old boy and later as a 4- to 5-year-old girl with blond or brown hair and a pink jacket. The department did not explain the discrepancy.

Police initially said the crash occurred around 10:38 p.m. Sept. 20. CHP is handling the collision investigation.
