Woodside resident Melanie Craft Ellison recently joined the board of directors of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.
Ms. Ellison, a novelist and the wife of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, is one of 25 board members who guide the organization’s strategic direction and help raise operational and capital funds.
The Peninsula Humane Society operates a shelter and a spay and neuter clinic, and provides animal control services in San Mateo County.
The organization is touting its three consecutive years of successfully finding homes for 100 percent of the healthy dogs and cats that come to its shelter.
PHS is on the front line of the fight for compassionate treatment of animals, Ms. Ellison said.
“I have deep respect for their dedication, creativity and proven record of success, and I’m proud to support them in every way I can,” Ms. Ellison said of PHS.
