Menlo Park is gearing up for its second downtown block party on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Santa Cruz Avenue will once again be closed to traffic and opened up to strollers, diners, musicians and kids’ entertainment. (Santa Cruz from University Drive to Doyle Street will be closed to traffic from 3 to 11 p.m.)

In keeping with the “Go Green” theme of the block party, local businesses and groups will showcase their efforts at environmental conservation.

Street dining will be offered by local restaurants such as Bistro Vida, the Left Bank, Angelo Mio, Sultana, Crepes Cafe and JZ Cool Eatery.

Four music acts are scheduled: Big Dog and the Bite, the Hillview Jazz Ensemble, the Emerson and Growiser Band, and jazz vocalist Hale Baskin, who will close out the free summer concert series in Fremont Park with a performance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The park is at Santa Cruz Avenue and University Drive.

For kids, there will be face painting, a bounce house, and a free kids’ movie screening at 7 p.m. at Menlo Park Presbyterian Social Hall, 700 Santa Cruz Ave.
