The Portola Valley School District board will make a provisional appointment to fill the remaining two-year term of Trustee Donna Carano, who resigned effective Oct. 17.
The vote to make an appointment instead of call for an election came after discussion at the board’s special meeting Oct. 25.
Trustee Karen Jordan recused herself from voting because she has an interest in applying for the vacancy and serving two more years on the board.
Applications for the appointment are available at the district office, Corte Madera School, 4575 Alpine Road in Portola Valley and on the district Webside: www.pvsd.net. Registered voters may apply; completed applications are due Monday, Nov. 19, at the district office or via e-mail to acampbell@pvsd.net.
Interviews of qualified applicants are tentatively scheduled for the week of Dec. 3.
