In a favorite Peninsula tradition, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is back on the Stanford Theatre’s screen for another Christmas Eve. The Stanford’s annual Dec. 24 screenings of the film returned in 2023 after the venue temporarily closed for several years due first to the COVID-19 pandemic and then for renovations.
Director Frank Capra’s 1946 holiday staple tells of a dejected but good-hearted man who learns just in time of the important impact he has made on others’ lives. The film, which will have two screenings on Dec. 24, at 4 and 9 p.m., typically packs the house, but you still have a chance to catch the film: according to a Dec. 23 post on the theater’s Facebook page, although the 4 p.m. screening is sold out, there are still tickets available for the 9 p.m. show. The box office will be open until 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 23 and reopens at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24, according to the post.
Dec. 24, 9 p.m. (4 p.m. show is sold out) at the Stanford Theatre, 221 University Ave., Palo Alto. Tickets are $7. stanfordtheatre.org.
