Downtown Menlo Fund flags

The Downtown Menlo Fund (written about in the Nov. 14 edition of The Almanac) has launched one of its first projects: putting holiday flags in downtown Menlo Park. The flags line Santa Cruz Avenue and tell residents it is a “season to stroll” and a “season to celebrate.”

Atherton Police Activities League toy drive

The Atherton Police Activities League has kicked off its annual toy drive benefiting students at Adelante Selby Spanish Immersion School. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Atherton City Hall, 80 Fair Oaks Lane, through Dec. 17.

Gifts and monetary donations may also be mailed to the Atherton Police Activities League at the same address, but must arrive by Dec. 17. Checks should be made payable to the Atherton Police Activities League, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Funds will be used to purchase toys and gift cards for children in need.
