On Aug. 13, Woodside High School students attended Wildcat Welcome Day to pick up their class schedules, take student photos and check out textbooks in preparation for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

“Our staff has been hard at work preparing for your arrival, and we are excited to welcome our newest wildcats of the Class of 2028 and students new to Woodside,” said Woodside Principal Karen van Putten in her weekly newsletter.

This year, Woodside High has added Advanced Placement Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism in addition to AP Physics C: Mechanics which has been offered for several years, according to van Putten.

The school is also seeing a record number of freshman students enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles, “an indicator that students are exploring more STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) courses.”

Van Putten is also excited to see full enrollment for Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) classes and the Graphics and Technology Academy, reflecting pre-COVID numbers and more.
