Actor Billy Magnussen filmed scenes of AMC’s Silicon Valley television show “The Audacity” in the Woodside Town Center area on Friday, Oct. 16.

The dark comedy drama follows the “warped dreams, outsized egos and ethical lapses” of Silicon Valley investors, AMC said in a press release.

Magnussen — known for “Game Night” and “The Social Reckoning,” which focuses on whistleblower allegations against Menlo Park-based Meta — plays Duncan Park, a fictitious data-mining CEO who seeks to profit off of people’s private information. The show was created by Jonathan Glatzer, who previously worked on HBO’s “Succession” and AMC’s “Better Call Saul.”

The show premiered on April 12 and production of the second season started in June. While it is mainly filmed in Vancouver, Canada, “The Audacity” filmed several scenes on Mountain Home Road and its intersection with Woodside Road.

During one of the scenes, Magnussen appeared to drive a car through the center of the town, past Roberts Market, and yell at something. Traffic was briefly stopped as the scenes were shot. In addition to Magnussen, shooting the scene involved producers, camera operators, extras and stunt workers. In a notice to residents, the production said it staged workers at the Filoli estate to minimize impacts on residents.

At the center of the series is Park’s relationship with his psychiatrist, Dr. JoAnne Felder, played by Sarah Goldberg. The cast also includes Zach Galifianakis, Lucy Punch and Simon Helberg. The show explores Silicon Valley’s culture and its “jaded billionaires, psychiatrist-gurus, bio-hacked tech bros, AI labs and disillusioned teens being optimized in elite private schools,” AMC said.

The eight-episode second season is scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ sometime in 2027.
