Menlo Park Presbyterian Church will hold a Global Gift Fair on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22-23, at 950 Santa Cruz Ave. in Menlo Park. “The gift fair will equip and assist people in developing countries to break the cycle of poverty through their own handiwork and creativity,” said Monica Brandt in a church announcement.
Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The church partners with Heavenly Treasures, a nonprofit that starts and supports micro enterprises in developing countries. All proceeds from product sales are “reinvested with the artisans and their projects,” Ms. Brandt said.
This year shoppers can meet an artisan from Guatemala who will be weaving huipiles, traditional Guatemalan garments, on-site, and selling hand-weaved textile products, according to Bennie Ingraham, mission director at the church.
