A girl named Ileana, center, living in dire conditions in Nicaragua inspired musician Brad Corrigan to found the Love Light + Melody organization to support opportunities for children like her. Musician Brad Corrigan is perhaps best known for his work with the band Dispatch (and sometimes uses the stage name Braddigan). In 2007, he visited the La Chureca trash dump in Nicaragua, where families live and work in dire conditions. He met an inspirational young girl named Ileana and, after many return visits, started the Love Light + Melody organization to support opportunities for children like Ileana through education, the arts and sports.

The documentary “Ileana’s Smile,” which Corrigan directed, aims to raise awareness and funds for those in need. At a fundraiser event at the Guild, Corrigan will perform a set and do a Q&A, and the documentary will be screened.
