The Atherton Police Department is investigating after two related incidents, a burglary and attempted burglary, took place on Stevick Drive on Saturday evening, Jan. 11.

At about 7:42 p.m. on Saturday, a person broke into a home on the 300 block of Stevick Drive by Alameda de Las Pulgas by smashing a rear window, according to police. Shortly after, a person smashed the window of another residence on the same block, but was chased out of the home by the resident.

The individual fled the scene, and according to the Atherton Police Department, both the vehicle used to flee and the individuals involved have not been identified, and investigations are ongoing.

Police are asking Atherton residents who live near Stevick Drive to check their surveillance video and report any possible leads to the police department.

The police department recommends that residents install an alarm system and security cameras, install exterior lighting, keep valuables well-hidden, keep all doors and windows locked even when home, and when not at home, to keep lights on or leave a TV on to make it appear as though someone is home.

The Atherton Police Department also offers home security reviews by their “crime protection through environmental design” officers. Residents can make an appointment to have their home reviewed by calling the police department at 650-688-6500.
