Incoming Stanford University student Jacob Yuryev and Charter School principal Mary Beth Thompson are still the only Sequoia Union High School District candidates to disclose they have raised above $2,000. Yuryev has raised $37,000 total, which is double Thompson who has raised $15,000.
Candidates who raised over $2,000 were required to disclose contributions and expenditures for the period from Sept. 22 to Oct. 19. Last filing period, which ended on Sept. 21, Yuryev raised 12 times more than Thompson.
The Sequoia District Teachers Association, which endorsed Thompson for Area B and Tonga Victoria for Area E, reported $20,240 in independent expenditures. However, SDTA did not specify which candidates the funds supported on the forms filed with the county.
SDTA President Edith Salvatore told this news organization that they spent $10,000 on a mailer, $5,000 on digital advertising and $3,900 on a split mailer with CTA to support Thompson.
SDTA spent $4,667 on a mailer and $1,900 on a split mailer with CTA for Victoria. SDTA also spent $560 on a car sign supporting both Thompson and Victoria.

The largest contributor to Thompson’s campaign is her husband Ben Thompson who donated $5,000. Incumbent Carrie Du Bois, who endorsed Thompson, contributed a total of $2,000.
Most of Thompson’s contributors live in cities in Area B, which she is running to represent. Of the 32 individuals who contributed to her campaign this period, 25 live in San Carlos and three live in Redwood City. She only received three contributions from outside of California.
Thompson spent a total of $4,300 this filing period. She spent $3,000 on postcard flyers, $800 on yard signs and $276 on donation processing fees.
She also received a $1,000 contribution from a pro-charter school political action committee which endorsed her. They did not respond to a request for comment on the endorsement.

Yuryev raised significantly more funds from outside of Area B. Of the 44 contributors this filing period, 13 live in San Carlos and three live in Redwood City. Seven contributors live outside of California.
Last filing period, 24 out of 63 contributors lived in Menlo Park or Atherton, which are outside of Area B.
Yuryev spent $20,000 this period, including $14,800 on mailers and $1,266 on text message campaigns. He also hired LT Strategic Communications for campaign consulting.
