The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a mental health call around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, on Aliso Way in Ladera, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Gretchen Spiker. 

Residents reported multiple police cars parked in the area. As many as seven police cars were shown in a photo of the scene shared with The Almanac.

An SMC Alert was sent around 2:35 p.m. to local residents informing them of an active investigation which is of no threat to the public’s safety. It asked the community to avoid the area. 

Ten minutes after the alert was sent, deputies cleared the area, according to Spiker. There continues to be no public safety threat, she said.
