Sometime in the next several weeks, Menlo Park residents can expect to see a familiar question show up in their mailboxes: What should the city do about El Camino Real?
The city is sending out fliers soliciting public input to help decide what should replace abandoned auto lots along the city’s main corridor.
Among the questions the city is asking:
• What kinds of new businesses does the city need?
• How tall should new buildings be?
• Would you like to see more housing on El Camino Real and near the city’s downtown area?
Attached to the mailer will be a short survey that residents can fill out and send back to the city.
City officials say the input will be included in the city’s efforts to design a comprehensive plan for properties along the El Camino Real corridor and downtown area. The city also intends to hold a series of community workshops and public meetings, likely starting in January.
New director at MCC
Molly Given, a 10-year veteran of childhood education, has been named the new director of the Menlo Children’s Center, which houses the city’s West Menlo preschool and school-age child care programs.
Ms. Given has worked in several teaching posts, and recently received her site director permit from the California Department of Education, according to a letter emailed to parents by city staff. She is scheduled to start Oct. 1.
