The League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County will present a public program on immigration on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. in Hansen Hall at The Sequoias, 501 Portola Road in Portola Valley.

Richard Hobbs, director of the Office of Human Relations for Santa Clara County and its Citizenship and Immigrant Programs, will speak on “America’s Immigration Policies: Present and Future.”

Mr. Hobbs brings extensive experience to his present post. He has worked with low-income residents, immigrants, and nonprofit agencies in Santa Clara County for three decades. He has been a citizenship teacher, ESL instructor, attorney, and director of Catholic Charities’ Immigration Program. He holds two master’s degrees and a law degree, and has served in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan and Ecuador.
