The 2007-08 budget for Portola Valley set aside $13,000 to buy an electric utility cart. The Town Council may act on this matter at its 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, meeting in the Historic Schoolhouse.

The council will also discuss increasing staff size in a town with a tradition of volunteerism. A staff report recommends hiring a receptionist; an interim manager, perhaps a consultant, for the climate control program; and more help for information technology maintenance.

The town’s participation in buying open space in the Westridge neighborhood is also on the agenda.
