Father Egon Javor, 91, monk, educator and founder of Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, died early Sunday morning at 91, the school has announced.
“Father Egon Javor lived his life dedicated to the Benedictine tradition of helping students become lifelong learners and good stewards to humanity,” the Priory said on its Web site.
A viewing and prayers will be held at the Priory Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (March 4) and starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Pius Church, 1100 Woodside Road in Redwood City.
In lieu of flowers, the school asks that donations be made to the “Woodside Priory School Father Egon Endowed Scholarship Fund” at 302 Portola Road, Portola Valley, CA 94028.

Thank you, Father Egon, your service to all of us is an inspiration.
When Father Javor founded the Priory why did he name it “Woodside” Priory?? It’s located in Portola Valley. Shouldn’t he have called it Portola Valley Priory? They didn’t name Menlo School…which is located in Menlo Park…Atherton School.
Actually, TruthBetold, Menlo School — and Menlo College — are in Atherton.
Barb, I stand corrected. But that still doesn’t answer my Priory question.
While you are at it, find out why the Menlo Circus Club is in Atherton and the Menlo Country Club is in Woodside.
