The executive director of the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford has announced she will be resigning in February, according to a Ronald McDonald House press release.
Honey Meir-Levi, who has been executive director of Ronald McDonald House since September 1994, will step down Feb. 17 in order to relocate to New York and be closer to family.
“I make this announcement with bittersweet feelings after serving the House for more than 17 years and cherishing so many friendships and aspects of my work,” Meir-Levi said at a recent meeting of Ronald McDonald House volunteers.
The Board of Directors and the management staff have begun a search for Meir-Levi’s replacement.
“We thank Honey for her years of dedicated service that helped the House grow and flourish,” Board President Brad Lyman said in the release. “The team she created leaves a strong foundation for the future with a House supported by very capable hands during this transition.”
Meir-Levy “doubled the House in size and quadrupled its fundraising capacity” during her time as executive director, according to the release.
“Her leadership ensured a balanced budget every year, weathering the uncertainties of economic downturns and natural disasters. Known in the community for both her professional expertise and compassion for the House’s guests, Ms. Meir-Levi positioned the House as a leading organization in Silicon Valley,” the organization stated.
The California Legislature recognized Meir-Levy as “Woman of the Year” in 1998.
Ronald McDonald House “creates a home-away-from-home and supportive community for families of children with life-threatening illnesses receiving specialized treatment at local hospitals,” according to the website.
