49ers team owner arrested in misdemeanor charges in Ohio

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested over the weekend in Ohio on suspicion of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools, according to court documents.

York, 46, was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, on suspicion of engaging in prostitution, but that was amended to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct on Monday, according to Columbiana County Court records. 

York, whose legal name is John Edward York, pleaded no contest to the amended charge and to another misdemeanor charge of possession of criminal tools. Authorities did not provide a description of the alleged criminal tools.

According to court records, York paid a total $1,285, which includes $1,150 in fines and $135 in court fees, according to documents filed Monday in Columbiana County Court. 

The CEO and principal owner of the 49ers, York has been with the team for more than two decades. He is the grandson of former owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. and the son of Denise DeBartolo York and Dr. John York, the team’s co-chairmen.

The 49ers did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.
