A 22-year-old man was arrested in Menlo Park on June 24 for allegedly stealing two bicycles worth $300 each from homes near downtown Menlo Park, the Menlo Park Police Department said.
According to police, a resident reported at 8:42 a.m. that a suspect had taken a Giant brand bike off the porch of a home on the 1000 block of Santa Cruz Avenue.Â
Police then found a man, later identified as William Moran Moran, matching the description of the suspect riding a different bicycle on Werth Avenue. Police determined the bike he was riding, a Specialized Tricross, had been stolen from an open garage on Windsor Way
Officers later found the Giant bicycle discarded in nearby bushes on Windsor Way, and both bikes were returned to their owners
Moran was arraigned at the San Mateo Superior Court on June 25 on two counts of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, according to court records. Judge Elizabeth Hill released him under supervision while the case is pending.
Court records show Moran was charged June 1 with possession of a controlled substance. In 2025, he was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and misdemeanor possession; the felony charge was later dropped as part of a plea agreement that included a one-year probation term. That probation remained active at the time of both of his 2026 arrests, according to court records.
Moran is due back in court in Redwood City on July 29.
