As February heads toward March, anticipation of a new season stirs baseball fans everywhere, and at Menlo-Atherton High School fans and teams have something special to look forward to: a new field.
The season at M-A opens this year on Saturday, February 25, against Woodside High School in the inaugural game at Bettencourt Field, named after Frank Bettencourt who coached baseball at M-A for 40 years.
Dedication ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m., with the first pitch scheduled for around noon.
“Through the donations of over 250 community members (and) former and current players, we were able to construct our field of dreams,” said varsity coach Joe Fontana.
