Palo Alto’s Aaron Kim and Pinewood’s Maia Garcia were the top qualifiers Saturday in the boys and girls high jump at the Central Coast Section track and field semifinals at Soquel High.

Kim, the boys season-leader at 6-8, qualified at 6-4. Garcia, the girls season-leader at 5-8, qualified at 5-2.

The CCS finals take place Saturday, June 19, at Soquel.

Girls qualifiers

Palo Alto’s Hillary Studdert had the second-fastest qualifying time in the 800 at 2:13.55, just behind Isabella Cairns of St. Francis. Sacred Heart Prep’s Luci Lambert (2:16.78), Castilleja’s Samira Kennedy (2:17.90), Paly’s Katherine Cheng (2:18.16) and Menlo-Atherton’s Kendall Olesen (2:22.54) also qualified for the final.

Lambert also has the second-fastest qualifying time in the 1,600 at 5:02.93. M-A’s Annie Pflaum (5:09.56) moved on to the final, as well

Palo Alto’s 4×400 relay team had the No. 2 mark at 4:04.57.

Gunn’s Sharona Schwab was third overall, running 15.98 in the 100 hurdles, and fourth at 47.27 in the 300 hurdles. Woodside’s Katherine Sheldon was second in the 300 hurdles (46.95) and eighth in the triple jump (34-7).

Palo Alto’s Lili Wakenshaw (5-2) and Woodside’s Katherine Meade (5-0) qualified along with Garcia in the high jump. Sacred Heart Prep’s Keegan Shaw moved along in the long jump, qualifying 10th at 15-9 ¾. Woodside’s Elle Marsyla qualified in the 3,200 with a time of 11:27.95.

Boys qualifiers

Menlo School’s Calvin Katz had the second-fastest prelim mark in the 1,600 at 4:18.24. Paly’s Alexei Seletskiy was fourth (4:19.06).

Jeremy Huang of Palo Alto advanced to the finals in both hurdles. He was fifth in the 110 highs in 15.61 and fourth in the 300 intermediates with a time of 40.41.

Paly’s John Bard ran 1:58.80 in the 800 and Menlo’s Justin Pretre 2:00.12 to both move on to the finals.

Woodside’s Maceo Latimer and Luke Buddie both cleared 6-0 to advance in the high jump. Paly’s Rishi Tella qualified in the triple jump at 41-3 ½ as did Menlo’s William Floyd in the pole vault (11-6).
