Fletcher Cahill started the game and pitched three scoreless innings. As a hitter, he helped end the game with a flourish, hitting a home run in Alpine’s 9-2 victory over Belmont in the winner’s bracket of the District 52 Little League 11-12 All-Star Tournament on Thursday.

Jax Cannon added a two-run double during a six-run outburst in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Alpine advances to the winner’s bracket final at 4 pm Saturday against neighboring Menlo-Atherton, an 11-2 victor over Foster City.

Alpine took a 3-0 lead after two innings but Belmont managed to score twice in the fourth to make it close.

Alpine used five pitchers, with Wyatt Hutchinson getting the final two outs. Timothy Harrick, Kaenon Strick and Hudson Watten also pitched.

Matthew Majayla opened the fifth with a single. Harrick, Weaver, Sullivan Fischbein and Strick also reached base ahead of Cannon’s double.

Jack Leeper and Max Brubacher each collected three hits and drove in three runs as Menlo-Atherton opened a 7-0 lead after two innings.

Elijah Vu threw four shutout innings for M-A, while Luca Auer and Brubacher each pitched an inning.

Merrick Lee delivered a big hit during a four-run rally in the second inning. Connor Heinz, Dylan Fluherty and Auer each added two hits,

Menlo-Atherton and Alpine are the only two undefeated teams left in the double-elimination tournament. They meet Saturday at 4 p.m. with the winner advancing into the championship game.
