Saint Francis downed Presentation 25-19, 28-18, 25-15 on Wednesday in the West Catholic Athletic League girls volleyball regular-season finale.
The Lancers (17-10, 7-3) finish in sole possession of third place, right behind Mitty and St. Ignatius, who both finished with 8-2 league records.
St. Francis finished the regular season winning eight of 10 matches.
Mitty beat Valley Christian 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 on Wednesday.
Mitty, which lost two of three matches to St. Francis this season, will likely receive the top seed for the Central Coast Section Open Division, which begins Saturday at campus sites.
The seeding meeting is scheduled for noon Thursday at the CCS offices.
St. Ignatius will likely receive the No. 2 seed and St. Francis the third seed. SI beat the Lancers twice this season.
After that, it’s a wide-open field, with at least 10 other teams with a chance at an Open Division spot, among them Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hillsdale, Los Gatos, Menlo School, Sacred Heart Prep and Mountain View.
Cross country

Palo Alto won both varsity girls and varsity boys races at the Palo Alto City Meet on Wednesday, held on Gunn’s 2.14 mile course.
Paly won the boys race 16-47 and the Paly girls won 19-39.

Sophomore Grant Morgenfeld won the boys race in 10:27.9. He was followed by seniors Mateo Fesslmeier (10:51.0), James Miller (10:56.2) and John Bard (10:56.2).
Sophomore Jake Seley placed fifth for Gunn in 10:56.7.
Palo Alto juniors Elizabeth Fetter and Hillary Studdert finished first and second in the girls race, with times of 12:12.2 and 12:18.6, respectively. Paly freshman Kinga Czajkowska was third in 13:09.8.
Gunn freshman Lauren Lee placed fourth in 13:13.4 and Gunn senior Amy White was fifth on 13:30.5.
Gunn’s Gal Rivlin won the junior varsity boys in 11:50.9 and the next 12 runners were all from Palo Alto.
Paly’s Tess Brown won the JV girls race in 15:32.5.
Gunn sophomore Daniel Keehe won the boys frosh-soph race in 11:42.0.
Girls tennis
St. Francis beat Presentation 6-1 on Wednesday to clinch the outright WCAL title with a final match against Mitty on Thursday at Cuesta Park.
